Beady buddies

(My little bead-boy from Variation, who just made friend with my post-Easter find from today)

A while back, I stumbled upon a new Etsy shop that I found extremely charming. Though open less than a month at the time, she was pushing 30 sales! I was impressed. Her creations are the type of unique, "why-didn't-I-think-of-that" sort of thing that all of us creators are constantly striving for.

Variation makes little bead-people out of vintage beads and findings. Almost as charming as the people themselves are the PHOTOS on her listings. I can't imagine the time she puts into them. I told her she really needs to start a side-business of selling prints of her images ☺

I LOVE this one in particular! Consequently, she purchased some of my chenille pups, and they seemed to get along very well with her own little bead-friends:

In other goings-on, my husband is working diligently in painting/staining/varnishing and hanging trim for me. Can you believe that we have lived here for nearly 2 years and I have little to nothing hanging on my walls?? I can't wait for the big unveiling so that I can hang up some lovely artwork from my bloggy-friends Bunzi, Mushy, and Jenny . Can't wait for the unveil? I am sure you can scour their blogs and find the trade-details ☺ For now, I must go make some more "balls in shells" for supper!

Thanks for the recipe, Luv! Emmalie helped me, actually I helped her make it for the birthday supper for the boys. All enjoyed it, I will make it again too. And I am going to post it on my blog and link to yours with the recipe if that is OK with you?

That is fine, Kim ☺ When I made it last night, I did it slightly different...I had some cottage cheese that needed to be finished off, so I took a baby-sized spoon and put a small dollop in each shell before we stuck in the meatball. They were even better! Definitely a wink and a nudge to lasagna ☺

I bought another box of jumbo shells today on sale for 1.69. I can't find them in generic/store brand, so I bought Barilla. Generally I use Barilla or Creamette pastas.

Thanks! I'll link it up. As I was making the recipe I thought the same thing, that some cottage cheese sure would add to it. The store I was at only had the Ronzoni (it's a Kroger affiliation) but, my favorite grocery store, a local chain has Barilla on sale 4/$5.00 for the next couple weeks, I'll be picking more up there.

Hy-Vee has Barilla for 99 cents/box this week, but OF COURSE the larger stuff (lasagna, jumbo shells, and jumbo rigatoni) AREN'T included.

I made a great side dish a couple of weeks ago using orzo. I saw it on Rachael Ray the day I made it...had all the ingredients, needed a side...you get the picture :-) It was REALLY good, too.

I loved Hy-Vee when we were back there :) Wish we had them here:(

We just have such few choices when it comes to grocery stores. We just came from the locally owned store that we like, that most people I know think has too high of prices (after all, it has organic food, it must be expensive) and the jumbo shells are regularly 2.39, on sale for 2.29. The regular price is 1.00 less that the Kroger! If I could only convince the nay-sayers!
